Job Description

Jenkins Electric Company is hiring a Human Resources Coordinator to help keep day-to-day HR operations organized, compliant, and responsive. This onsite role in Charlotte, NC supports core processes across recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits coordination, and HR reporting, serving as an important contact for both employees and managers.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate job postings through the company HRIS system
  • Screen applications, schedule interviews, and communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process
  • Prepare offer letters, new hire paperwork, and onboarding materials
  • Conduct new hire orientation and facilitate onboarding activities
  • Complete employment verifications and coordinate background screening
  • Assist managers with recruiting and staffing needs
  • Represent the company at job fairs, career events, and community recruiting activities to support talent acquisition efforts
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee personnel files and HRIS records
  • In coordination with accounting, process employee status changes, including hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and terminations
  • Ensure employee records meet company policy and legal requirements
  • Generate and distribute HR reports and updates as needed
  • Maintain job descriptions and personnel documentation, and support documentation and records management
  • Support employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and annual open enrollment activities
  • Serve as a liaison between employees and benefit providers
  • Coordinate COBRA, retirement plan, and leave-related documentation
  • Assist payroll by ensuring the accuracy of employee data and related changes
  • Assist with wage, status, and benefit change forms
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll deductions and benefits
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries about HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events
  • Support performance review administration and tracking
  • Assist with documentation related to investigations, corrective actions, and employee relations matters
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and support communication and change management initiatives
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Support HR audits, including I-9 compliance audits and personnel file reviews
  • Maintain labor law postings and required employment documentation
  • Assist with workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and leave administration
  • Coordinate employee handbook updates and policy acknowledgments, and maintain related HR compliance and reporting documentation

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of HR, administrative, payroll, or office support experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of human resources principles, employment laws, and HR best practices
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Schedule and Work Setup

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break
  • Onsite role in Charlotte, NC

Preferred Background

  • Spanish-speaking is a plus
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll software; knowledge of Paylocity is a plus
  • Knowledge of benefits administration, onboarding, and employee recordkeeping
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and leave administration
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to move throughout the office and shop as needed
