Job Description

Hampton Farms offers a structured, people-first HR role in Franklin, VA (onsite), supporting recruiting, onboarding, and day-to-day HR administration within a manufacturing setting. You will help create a positive employee experience while partnering with Corporate HR and Payroll to keep hiring and HR processes accurate, compliant, and confidential.

What you’ll do

  • Own the full recruitment workflow, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, and candidate communications.
  • Coordinate career fairs and other recruiting initiatives.
  • Coordinate pre-employment steps such as background checks and drug testing.
  • Lead new hire orientation and onboarding to support an engaged start for employees.
  • Prepare offer letters and maintain accurate recruiting records.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data with an emphasis on confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with questions related to HRIS, payroll, benefits, and timekeeping.
  • Review employee time records prior to payroll processing.
  • Support HR compliance by assisting with job descriptions, employee status changes, and HR compliance activities.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs, including Employee of the Month, and create employee communications such as quarterly newsletters.
  • Support Workers’ Compensation administration and other HR projects as assigned.
  • Partner with Corporate HR and Payroll to support compliance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Provide customer service by welcoming visitors, applicants, vendors, and employees and answering incoming phone calls; maintain office supplies.
  • Complete additional administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or 1-3 years of Human Resources experience, required.
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, and employee training, including use of HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preference for strong Human Resources experience in a manufacturing/production environment, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations.
  • Preference for experience supporting day-to-day plant operations and partnering with supervisors and managers to address workforce issues, maintain policy compliance, and support employee engagement.
  • Experience recruiting and onboarding employees for production, shift-based, and overnight positions is required.
  • Preferred: knowledge of employment laws, attendance management, corrective action processes, and HR best practices in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Would prefer candidates close to Franklin, VA.

Work environment

  • Primarily office-based, with regular time spent in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Facility exclusively processes peanuts and tree nuts, and employees must be able to safely work where exposure to airborne and contact allergens is unavoidable.
  • Production areas may have varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to walk, bend, reach, crouch, and move throughout office and production areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
