Job Description

Stars Intervention Inc is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator for a hands-on HR role focused on recruiting, onboarding, employee support, and HR operations in Chula Vista, CA (onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Manage job postings across Indeed and other recruiting platforms
  • Review and screen applicants for open roles
  • Conduct initial candidate phone screens
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the recruiting process
  • Track candidates through each stage of the recruitment process
  • Assist with offer letters, preemployment requirements, background checks, and onboarding
  • Maintain recruiting reports and provide updates on open positions, pipelines, and hiring activity
  • Develop and maintain candidate pipelines for frequently recruited positions
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and recruiting priorities
  • Identify new recruiting sources and outreach opportunities
  • Represent Stars Therapy Services at job fairs, career fairs, college recruiting events, community events, and other talent acquisition activities
  • Build relationships with colleges, universities, community organizations, and other recruiting partners
  • Assist with coordinating and promoting recruiting events
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and New Hire Orientation
  • Prepare onboarding materials and ensure required documentation is completed
  • Support new employees with onboarding questions and HR processes
  • Coordinate required training assignments and monitor completion
  • Ensure onboarding activities remain organized, engaging, and aligned with company expectations
  • Follow up on outstanding new hire documentation and requirements
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for routine employee HR questions
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records
  • Process employee status changes and other HR documentation
  • Assist with HRIS data entry and employee record maintenance
  • Support timekeeping and payroll readiness processes
  • Track attendance, time-off requests, and other HR information as assigned
  • Assist with benefits-related employee questions and administrative processes
  • Prepare employee letters, forms, reports, and HR communications
  • Support HR audits and compliance projects
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with employee relations documentation and other HR matters as appropriate
  • Complete assigned HR projects accurately and within established deadlines

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of Human Resources, recruiting, or talent acquisition experience preferred
  • Experience screening applicants and coordinating interviews
  • Experience with Indeed or similar applicant tracking/recruiting platforms
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Professional, confident interaction with candidates, employees, managers, and external community partners
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sound judgment, including the ability to recognize when issues should be escalated
  • Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative HR team
  • Comfortable speaking with candidates and representing the organization at recruiting events
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn HRIS, payroll, and recruiting systems
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for required recruiting events and business travel

Schedule & Travel

  • Full-time, in-person role, generally Monday through Friday
  • Attendance required at recruiting events, career fairs, college and university events, and other community outreach activities
  • Some local and occasional regional travel required
  • Occasional early morning, evening, or other schedule adjustments may be necessary to attend recruiting events or meet operational needs

Compensation

  • $24.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field
  • HR certification such as aPHR Preferred
  • Previous HR or recruiting experience
  • Experience attending career fairs, college recruiting events, or community outreach events

  • Communicate proactively with candidates, hiring managers, and HR leadership

  • Follow established HR procedures and leadership direction consistently
  • Complete assignments accurately and on time
  • Recognize problems, gather necessary information, and bring forward possible solutions
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, accountability, and reliability
  • Know when to act independently and when an issue should be escalated to the Director of Human Resources
