Job Description

Valley Community Healthcare seeks a senior HR leader to direct HR operations across functions, mentor the HR team, and align people strategy with the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to craft and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define the long-term organizational vision and people strategy.
  • Establish and monitor key HR metrics to assess organizational performance and market competitiveness.
  • Advise senior leaders on HR matters to influence strategic decisions.
  • Work with the CFO and leadership to plan and manage the annual HR budget, covering staffing, benefits administration, employee engagement programs, and HR operating costs.
  • Provide analyses and recommendations on workforce investments, compensation programs, and benefits offerings.
  • Lead the development and ongoing improvement of HR policies and the employee handbook, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with mission and values; update policies, communicate changes, and consult with employment counsel as needed.
  • Mentor and develop the HR team to sustain high performance, professional growth, and succession planning.
  • Set clear goals, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, high-trust environment within the HR team that supports innovation and accountability.
  • Ensure the HR department is effectively resourced to meet organizational needs.
  • With support from the HR Recruiter, drive talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning strategies.
  • Collaborate with leaders to forecast staffing requirements and plan accordingly.
  • Support succession planning in partnership with the executive leadership team.
  • Assist in developing budgets with the CFO and executive leadership.
  • Create and oversee learning and development programs that advance leadership and employee growth.
  • Identify training needs with leaders and implement programs to strengthen management effectiveness, compliance, and organizational culture.
  • Oversee employee relations, counseling, and disciplinary processes to ensure fair and legally compliant practices.
  • Guide managers in performance management and participate in conflict resolution as needed.
  • Drive employee engagement and retention by implementing a collaborative HR strategy with executive management.
  • Co-design employee engagement and wellness initiatives with executive leadership.
  • Oversee benefits program administration, conduct regular reviews, and coordinate with brokers to evaluate plan performance and educate employees on benefits.
  • Design and manage competitive compensation, benefits, and incentive programs.
  • Monitor market trends to maintain a competitive position for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, HR regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Develop, implement, and update HR policies; train supervisors on compliance in collaboration with the Director of Compliance.
  • Oversee Paycom HRIS operations and maintain data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards and reports that illuminate recruitment, retention, engagement, turnover, and workforce demographics.
  • Ensure HR data systems support accurate data management and timely reporting to leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver timely HR communications across the organization.
  • Lead the HR team in day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organization Development, or a related field; master's degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 8–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including strategic and talent management responsibilities.
  • Healthcare industry experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to build consensus, elevate employee morale, and lead in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
  • History of driving organizational performance and employee engagement.
  • Cultural competency and commitment to the organization’s mission.

Salary Range

  • USD 160,000 - 180,000 per year (salary is subject to adjustments based on individual skills and experience)

What We Look For
