This onsite role in Long Island City, NY offers the opportunity to collaborate with the Learning and Development team and the Director of Training and Development to shape a high-performing workforce. Compensation is an hourly range of $37 to $40, reflecting a commitment to recognizing impact and expertise. You will contribute to HR practices across HRIS, compensation, benefits, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, and compliance, all within a culture that prioritizes empowerment, quality, and ongoing development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate new hire onboarding sessions
  • Plan and organize the annual mandatory trainings across departments
  • Support the tracking of performance evaluations and identify development trainings for career growth
  • Update the HRIS to reflect employee training records and performance evaluations
  • Maintain accurate records in the HRIS and in physical employee files
  • Generate monthly reports and provide audit-ready data when needed
  • Contribute to the design and development of training materials
  • Provide first-line HR support to employees and managers
  • Represent the organization at meetings and events as directed
  • Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources preferred; PHR or SHRM certification preferred
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant human resources experience, nonprofit setting preferred, with at least 1 year in training and development and HRIS
  • Knowledge of core HR functions; benefits administration and employee relations a plus
  • Understanding of federal and state benefits laws
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, from senior management to frontline
  • Diplomacy and discretion in handling sensitive issues
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any HRIS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication
