About the role
As the HR Generalist, you will manage the daily operations of the HR function at the Syracuse site and act as a trusted partner to both employees and leadership. Your scope covers the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, performance management, development, wellness, safety, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the site HR partner to administer and support programs including onboarding, benefits, leave management, performance reviews, and employee relations
- Assist with candidate screening and interviews to meet staffing needs
- Support a smooth onboarding process that sets new hires up for success
- Work with leadership to resolve employee concerns and escalate sensitive issues to the HR Manager as appropriate
- Maintain accurate and organized employee records in the HRIS with timely updates and proper electronic documentation
- Monitor time and attendance to ensure policy compliance and accurate records
- Prepare and process weekly payroll and compile necessary reporting
- Respond to inquiries from employees, supervisors, and applicants related to HR policies, benefits, and payroll
- Assist with the design and delivery of training programs supporting compliance, skill development, and growth
- Oversee the performance review process to ensure timely completion in line with company policy
- Track and document compliance with required and optional training
- Support wellness initiatives that encourage healthy lifestyle choices
- Enforce safety policies, identify hazards, and collaborate with leadership on corrective actions
- Maintain strict confidentiality and cultivate trusted relationships across the organization
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and recommended HR best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing setting
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems; strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with professional clarity
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws at the federal, state, and local levels
- High integrity and confidentiality; capable of handling sensitive matters professionally
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to navigate confidential or sensitive situations with tact and sound judgment
