Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Dynamic HR Generalist responsible for payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, and HR operations at assigned locations, with a focus on policy enforcement and ISO-aligned practices.
Location: Boone, IA (onsite)
Salary: USD 65,000 - 70,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Director of Human Resources on performance review processes.
- Prepares payroll related journal entries.
- Reconciles employee benefits for approval by the Director of Human Resources.
- Processes payroll and maintains the HRIS system for assigned location(s).
- Maintains recruiting records.
- Conducts phone interviews.
- Conducts final interviews with managers/directors.
- Facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants, including background checks, for the assigned location(s).
- Conducts new hire orientations.
- Conducts employee benefit orientations.
- Administers employee benefits.
- Assists with annual open enrollments.
- Processes terminations.
- Maintains accurate PTO balances for assigned location(s).
- Maintains Hep B records.
- Maintains HIPAA files.
- Maintains HR related training documents.
- Maintains disciplinary files.
- Communicates with managers and employees regarding employee issues and HR policies to ensure consistent implementation.
- Requests approval of Director and/or Manager of Employee Relations as needed.
- Administers the Safety Glasses benefit.
- Administers the Safety Footwear benefit.
- Collaborates with HR team members across locations to organize a quarterly employee newsletter representing all NTB-A locations.
- Collaborates with HR team members across locations to organize company events.
- Sets up vendors when needed.
- Purchases items as needed.
- Creates notices regarding events.
- Keeps employees informed on upcoming events to boost morale.
Requirements
- Proven experience in human resources management or as an HR Generalist with a strong understanding of human capital management principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Payroll Processing: 3 years (Required).
- Basic accounting skills; prior experience with ADP is highly preferred; PHR certification preferred; experience with CA payroll and/or employment law is helpful.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; capable of accurate calculations related to discounts, interest, commissions, and general accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability in talent acquisition sourcing strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage employee relations effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel; ability to maintain complete, clear, concise records.
- Strong logical reasoning and judgment to solve problems based on experience and current research.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining data accuracy in records and contracts administration.
