Job Description
SHR Talent is seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist for a maritime manufacturing client located onsite in Kenner, LA. This role covers the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, HRIS and payroll support, and the development of HR policies and training programs. The position emphasizes ongoing compliance with employment laws and the creation of policies and training to support a productive workforce.

Responsibilities
- Own the employee lifecycle as the primary HR Generalist, guiding recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and exit processing
- Oversee benefits administration and open enrollment with brokers and carriers for health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave plans
- Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation, coordinating with the payroll vendor and finance teams
- Operate the HRIS, maintain accurate employee records, and generate reports and HR metrics
- Provide guidance on employee relations, conduct investigations, support performance management, and resolve conflicts
- Ensure compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and Louisiana employment laws and internal policies
- Design and deliver training programs in safety, anti-harassment, compliance, and leadership, while maintaining training records
- Update and implement HR policies, the employee handbook, and standard operating procedures
- Support workforce planning, job description development, compensation administration, and job evaluations
- Contribute to talent development initiatives, succession planning, and retention strategies
- Coordinate background checks, drug screens, credential verification, and maritime-specific compliance as needed
- Participate in special HR projects, change management, and process improvements to enhance the employee experience
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar role
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification preferred
- Maritime, logistics, transportation, or manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and Louisiana state requirements
- Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday, ADP, Paylocity, BambooHR, and Microsoft Office
- Proven experience in recruiting, benefits administration, payroll coordination, employee relations, and training delivery
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner with leadership and employees at all levels
- High integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to drive projects to completion
- Availability for occasional travel within the Gulf Coast and ability to work on-site in Kenner, LA as required
