Job Description
Onsite HR Generalist role with Toot'n Totum Food Stores, LLC in Amarillo, TX, supporting the full employee lifecycle in a busy retail environment; relocation to Amarillo is required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact for the assigned client group, offering consultation on key processes, policies, and programs.
- Respond to common questions from applicants and team members about policies, hiring steps, and general HR inquiries; escalate complex issues to the HR team.
- Administer routine HR programs including compensation, disciplinary actions, investigations, performance management, productivity and morale initiatives, recognition, engagement, and retention efforts.
- Process lifecycle changes in HR software and maintain accurate records for all team member profile updates.
- Oversee the drug screening process and document results for the assigned client group.
- Handle unemployment claims and state unemployment chargebacks with proper documentation for all claims.
- Onboard new hires and administer the E-Verify process for the group.
- Occasionally visit field locations to support turnover discussions, stay interviews, employee engagement initiatives, and investigations.
- Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; escalate sensitive matters to the HR Manager when needed.
- Assist with disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations in collaboration with managers and the HR Manager.
- Audit HRIS data for accuracy and timeliness, including terminations, promotions, transfers, rate changes, and job codes.
- Stay current on HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; support policy reviews to maintain compliance.
- Partner with other HR Generalists, the HR Manager, and the VP of HR to develop and implement diverse recruiting and staffing strategies.
- Collaborate with field leaders to define required skills, recruit and hire for open roles, and assist with job description and hiring criteria.
- Support pre-screening processes and participate in interviews as needed with hiring managers.
- Assist during offers by coordinating salary ranges and start dates alongside the hiring manager and HR staff.
- Represent the organization at job fairs and recruiting events.
- Promote organizational change, continuous improvement, and effective communication.
- Build and maintain relationships with management, new hires, team members, and HR colleagues to position HR as an integral business partner.
- Model leadership through authentic interactions, initiative, accountability, and courageous conversations when required.
- Adopt a service mindset focused on candidate and employee experiences, delivering repeatable, high-quality experiences.
- May assume additional duties outside of the assigned client group as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of HR experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multitasking, and growing environment.
- Capable of making appropriate decisions and working effectively and independently.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all HR matters.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Ability to learn quickly and proficiently with HRIS, Applicant Tracking System, Paradox AI, and other HR software.
- Skill in balancing demand and capacity when setting priorities for the organization.
- Mindset focused on continuous improvement; capable of leading change within the assigned client group.
- Creative problem solving, sound judgment, and personal accountability for responsibilities.
