Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Omega National Products is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to help strengthen human capital management across the organization. This onsite role in Elkhart, IN supports employee relations, streamlines HR processes, and partners with managers on day-to-day people issues.
The position covers a mix of onboarding and compliance coordination, HRIS and payroll support, training tracking, and recurring operational tasks such as attendance call-in monitoring and drug test recordkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive, customer-friendly representative of the Human Resources department for internal and external clients.
- Coordinate staffing for plant personnel, including conducting interviews and supporting direct hiring efforts.
- Manage the company new hire onboarding process.
- Support managers and supervisors with employee-related issues.
- Support and develop employee engagement activities and programs.
- Support and develop employee training and development programs.
- Track and coordinate first aid training to maintain sufficient numbers of certified employees across various shifts.
- Coordinate and support OSHA compliance training.
- Assist employees with questions related to company policies and employee benefits.
- Identify employees who have exceeded attendance occurrence policy thresholds and issue warnings according to company policy timing.
- Assist and support weekly payroll processing.
- Maintain HR and payroll data in HRIS and keep information accurate.
- Monitor the company call-in line daily to record absenteeism occurrences and communicate updates to supervisors.
- Process and maintain accurate records of employee drug tests.
- Keep current FMLA records and communicate regularly with supervisors and employees.
- Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of prior HR Generalist experience.
- 1+ years of recruiting experience.
- General knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-directed, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
