Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist will help run day-to-day HR operations while partnering with leaders and employees across manufacturing operations. This onsite role in Naugatuck, CT supports recruiting, employee relations, benefits, training, compliance, and safety initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and accurate HR execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruiting activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, background checks, drug screens, and onboarding documentation.
- Support new hire orientation and ensure employees receive required company, HR, compliance, and safety information during onboarding.
- Assist with benefits administration by answering employee questions, supporting enrollment, handling qualifying life events, and coordinating with carriers or vendors as needed.
- Support payroll processing by assisting with timekeeping review, attendance tracking, and follow-up to help ensure timely and accurate employee data.
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, attendance, employee relations, and other HR topics.
- Help ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, work rules, and employment practices across assigned employee groups.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, recordkeeping requirements, and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with leaders and employees as a trusted HR resource while upholding appropriate confidentiality.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including fact-finding, documentation, follow-up, and support for objective workplace investigations.
- Maintain employee records and HRIS data by updating information as needed and conducting audits to support data accuracy, compliance, and equitable policy administration.
- Partner with operations and safety leadership to support workplace safety initiatives, including safety communication, training coordination, incident documentation, mandatory reporting, and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Assist with workers’ compensation administration, including injury reporting, claim documentation, return-to-work coordination, and communication with employees, managers, and third-party administrators.
- Support compliance with safety policies, OSHA recordkeeping requirements, required postings, and related training documentation.
- Participate in employee engagement, retention, training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting a positive and productive workplace.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned, including occasional evening or weekend coverage based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2 to 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR software (or willingness to learn).
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.

Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience
