Job Description
Join Evolve Psychiatry, a medical practice located onsite in Massapequa, NY, as an HR Specialist. This role centers on recruiting, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and regulatory compliance within a healthcare environment, supporting a clinical and administrative team.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for clinical and nonclinical roles
- Post job advertisements and review incoming resumes
- Conduct phone screens and in-person interviews, coordinate hiring decisions
- Perform reference checks and oversee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Handle new hire paperwork, orientation, and training coordination
- Administer benefits enrollment and manage leave requests, PTO tracking, and coverage questions
- Process and correct employee timecards, maintain attendance records, and address payroll-related issues
- Maintain accurate, confidential HR personnel files and ensure compliance
- Handle employee relations matters professionally, including workplace concerns, performance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary documentation
- Assist management with HR policies, procedures, and compliance with federal, state, and healthcare employment regulations
- Coordinate employee trainings and performance evaluations, and manage compliance documentation
- Support leadership with staffing needs, workforce planning, and retention initiatives
- Maintain knowledge of healthcare hiring standards, credentialing requirements, and medical office workflows
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, labor laws, and company policies
- Address additional requests from the Practice Manager as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of 23 years of HR experience
- Experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, or behavioral health practice
- Experience hiring for both clinical and nonclinical healthcare positions
- Strong knowledge of onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll/timecard corrections, and HR compliance
- Ability to conduct interviews and manage the hiring process independently
- Capability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HR/payroll systems, and medical office software
