Job Description
Fierce Firearms offers a benefits-forward path for an experienced HR Manager to lead people operations in a precision rifle manufacturing setting that is ITAR-regulated and ATF-licensed. This onsite role serves as the single point of accountability for payroll, benefits, recruiting, compliance, and employee relations across a 100-120 person, non-union workforce. Base pay ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 annually, complemented by a benefits package designed to support both individuals and production results. The position is based in Gunnison, Utah.

Responsibilities
- Payroll: manage end-to-end payroll processing via Gusto with precise accuracy, including time capture, approvals, multi-rate and overtime calculations, deductions, garnishments, PTO accruals, tax filings, and GL reconciliation.
- Benefits: administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave programs; oversee open enrollment and qualifying life events; coordinate COBRA and carrier communications through Gusto.
- Talent: lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried roles to keep production staffed, covering sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, background checks, and onboarding.
- Employee Relations: serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, resolve conflicts, conduct investigations, manage disciplinary actions and performance issues; coach supervisors on fair, direct leadership.
- Compliance: maintain adherence to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and Utah labor law; manage I-9 / E-Verify, ITAR screening support, and accurate, audit-ready records.
- Operations: administer onboarding and offboarding, update job descriptions and the employee handbook, maintain policy docs and HRIS data integrity; deliver clear metrics on headcount, turnover, attendance, and time-to-fill.
- Partnership: collaborate with the COO/CFO and floor supervisors to translate workforce needs into staffing, training, and retention actions that protect throughput and quality.
Requirements
- Foundation: minimum 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience with direct payroll ownership; Gusto experience is strongly preferred.
- Breadth: proven depth across benefits administration, full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, and HR compliance; capable to manage all four areas without a dedicated team.
- Compliance: practical knowledge of federal and Utah employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA) and comfort operating in a regulated, security-sensitive environment.
- Systems: proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms, time-and-attendance systems, plus strong Microsoft 365 and spreadsheet skills for clean reporting.
- Environment: manufacturing or other hourly-workforce experience strongly preferred; ITAR / ATF-regulated exposure a plus.
- Education: bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field; PHR or SHRM-CP certification welcomed.
