Job Description
Part-time Human Resources Manager position based in Minneapolis, MN, offering USD 35 per hour to support staffing, policy management, onboarding, training, and compliance at Wagner Greenhouses and Garden Centers.
Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment efforts by screening applicants, conducting interviews, and guiding the selection of qualified candidates.
- Establish partnerships with regional educational institutions offering horticulture programs.
- Collaborate with production and retail department managers to assess and fulfill staffing needs.
- Provide weekly updates on the status of candidates in the hiring pipeline.
- Maintain and update job descriptions, the employee handbook, and related policies.
- Administer the employee benefits program, manage renewals, and conduct open enrollment sessions.
- Facilitate effective resolution of employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and document outcomes.
- Coordinate with the Accounting Department on payroll activities and serve as a back-up when needed.
- Assess training requirements and arrange development opportunities for managers and all staff.
- Deliver Worker Protection training and support safety education across the organization.
- Maintain OSHA records and ensure proper safety documentation and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including EEO, FLSA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, INA, and OSHA; recommend best practices.
- Maintain personnel files in an organized manner.
- Compile census data for 1095 reporting obligations.
- Oversee the annual U.S. Department of Labor H2A program operations.
- Plan and coordinate company events to foster a positive and engaging work environment.
- Drive continuous enhancements to HR policies, processes, and procedures.
- Support additional HR-related projects as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with teammates, management, and customers.
- English-Spanish bilingual abilities preferred.
- Analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; minimum of 5 years of HR experience.
