Job Description

The Human Resources and Office Coordinator role at Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County blends HR duties with administrative and operational oversight to support onboarding, benefits administration, recruitment, and office logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee staff and supervisor trainings, covering compliance topics such as sexual harassment and civil rights.
  • Drive recruitment workflows: post roles, conduct phone screenings, perform reference checks, craft interview questions, and review applications.
  • Lead onboarding processes: coordinate background checks (SCR, SEL, fingerprinting), complete new hire paperwork, set up computers and email, and configure desk phones.
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding documentation.
  • Administer benefits programs: 401(k), disability, workers' compensation, Paid Family Leave, and annual renewals.
  • Monitor employee engagement through surveys and morale initiatives.
  • Keep job descriptions and organizational charts current.
  • Track changes in HR law and policy to keep procedures compliant.
  • Maintain confidential employee records, including personnel files, performance evaluations, and disciplinary documentation.
  • Order and track office supplies and technology, including phones and computers.
  • Oversee building maintenance, repairs, and inspections such as fire extinguishers, alarms, and elevator systems.
  • Manage agency insurance forms and applications.
  • Schedule and maintain vehicle inspections and maintenance.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting for the phone system.
  • Assist with tracking technology plans and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources is required.
  • Must maintain personal automobile liability insurance with limits of at least $100,000/$300,000.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background checks, including a child abuse background check.
