Responsibilities
- Oversee benefits administration including life, health, dental, and disability insurance, as well as vacation, leave of absence, and employee assistance programs
- Manage personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations; prepare government workforce statistics under HR Manager guidance; coordinate with third-party administrators as needed
- Lead onboarding for new employees, prepare orientation materials, process paperwork and verifications, and assist with new-hire orientation
- Monitor daily time records in the timekeeping system, report hours to the payroll system (JDE), and process time-off requests
- Support recruitment efforts
- Assist the site safety committee, organizing regular safety and departmental safety meetings under direction of the HR Manager
- Maintain safety files and records, including plant documentation and employee training records
- Prepare and post safety information, signage, barriers, and related materials to warn of hazards and prevent access to dangerous conditions as directed
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and accident investigations; observe workplace activities and conditions; submit improvement recommendations to enhance the safety program
- Prepare, review, and submit accident/injury reports; obtain approvals and coordinate with the Plant Manager and HR to ensure proper documentation
- Support random drug testing administration for all employees
- Assist with workers' compensation administration, coordinating with the insurer to minimize lost time and communicating with injured employees and medical professionals
- Collaborate with plant safety personnel for information sharing and benchmarking
- Monitor and maintain records for fire and life safety equipment
- Support the administration of the PPE program
- Stay informed on legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR, aiding policy compliance and reporting
- Coordinate, supervise, and assist with special projects as needed
- Arrange meetings, travel, and special events as required
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervision
Requirements
- Physically able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to draft reports, basic business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effective verbal communication and the ability to present information one-on-one or to groups
- Proficient basic arithmetic skills for calculations across units of measure
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret simple graphs
- Strong common sense and the ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions
- Ability to solve practical problems with multiple variables in standard situations
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of Human Resources and payroll systems, plus spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Collaborative, professional demeanor under pressure
- Available to work on the 1st shift, starting at 6:00 am
