Job Description
Role context: The Human Resources Specialist administers and implements HR programs at a Bureau of Prisons federal facility, with a focus on staffing, recruitment, employee relations, and advisory services.
Compensation
Salary range for this position is USD 57,486 to 82,758 per year.
Responsibilities
- Position is located in the Human Resources Office of a Bureau of Prisons federal correctional facility.
- Assist in administering and implementing facility HR programs.
- Support staffing functions by developing recruitment sources and methods, participating in recruitment activities, advising prospective applicants, scheduling and conducting interviews, requesting certificates of eligible candidates, and preparing requests for security clearances.
- Assist in administering employee relations matters, including the incentive awards program, the performance evaluation program, and the leave administration program.
- Assist in administering the employee-management relations program to foster stable and cooperative relations between management and line staff.
- Provide advisory services to a wide range of employees.
- Provide guidance to timekeepers, employees, managers, and supervisors on leave regulations.
- Maintain security of the institution as required; correctional staff responsibilities take precedence and are performed regularly.

Additional Information
- In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for original appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution. If you are above the maximum entry age and have prior federal law enforcement coverage, you MUST submit an SF-50 to verify prior coverage.

- Special Conditions of Employment Section:
- Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and panel interview, urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.
- All applicants are subject to, and must satisfactorily pass all screening requirements in relation to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and a credit check.
- All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm.
- Successful completion of the Introduction to Correctional Techniques, a three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.

- Veterans' Preference Documentation:

Based on your responses to the assessment questions, you will be categorized as Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified.
