Job Description

Casual Hire (Temporary) Human Resources Specialist opportunity at Hawaii Community College in Hilo.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with recruitment, personnel transactions, and HR reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Possess a baccalaureate degree in Human Resources Management, Personnel Administration, Business, or a related field
  • Have 5+ years of responsible experience in a post-secondary educational institution demonstrating knowledge of:
    • business processes
    • EEO
    • Human Resources

Role Details

  • Casual Hire appointments are temporary roles within the University of Hawai’i
  • Appointments may include APT (administrative, professional, and technical) or instructional-type positions
  • Because the role is temporary, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular Board of Regents or Civil Service employees
  • Appointment duration may be up to:
    • 89 days for full-time employees
    • 1 calendar year for part-time employees

  • Attach academic transcript(s) appropriate to the position to verify courses completed and/or degree conferred
    • Unofficial transcripts are acceptable
    • Copies of diplomas will not be accepted
  • Submit official transcripts at the time of hire
  • If transcripts were issued outside the USA, provide a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from an agency with membership in the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. verifying degree equivalency to an accredited US institution before the date of hire
  • Applicant bears the expense of the evaluation
  • Include a statement outlining how you meet minimum qualifications (and desirable qualifications, if applicable)
  • Provide three (3) references with names and contact information familiar with job performance
  • Submit a resume
