Job Description

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Physician Talent Acquisition Specialist to plan, coordinate, implement, and direct physician sourcing, recruiting, and hiring activities. This onsite role in Allentown, PA supports the St. Luke’s Physician Group and St. Luke’s University Health Network by partnering closely with the recruitment team and internal stakeholders to strengthen recruitment and retention, ensure budgetary compliance, and support contract negotiations.

In this position, you will own physician recruitment for assigned specialty areas while developing candidate pipelines, managing outreach and internal recruiting workflows, and supporting site visits and onboarding steps through completion of post-hire processes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead physician recruitment efforts within assigned specialty areas.
  • Develop promotion strategies to highlight SLPG and SLUHN opportunities for experienced physicians and for candidates in residency or fellowship.
  • Coordinate with specialty leadership on growth, retention, and replacement planning as needed.
  • Create and implement sourcing methods to generate candidates, including practice job profiles, ad writing and placement on national or local internet advertising, website postings, database searches, direct mail, journal advertising, and outreach to residency programs.
  • Manage the internal sourcing and recruiting process by identifying, qualifying, and responding to candidate inquiries.
  • Contact candidates to discuss opportunities and present qualified candidates to the appropriate senior manager and internal stakeholders for consideration.
  • Coordinate candidate site visits, including working with Physician Recruitment Coordinator(s) on travel arrangements, itinerary preparation, and participation.
  • Partner with business owners to plan candidate visits and exposure opportunities aligned with areas of interest (such as schools and the community).
  • Determine ongoing candidate interest, coordinate second visits when needed, and conduct reference checks.
  • Initiate post-hiring activities such as medical staff privileges and onboarding.
  • Maintain close working relationships with residency and fellowship program personnel within SLUHN.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external recruitment firms and serve as chief liaison and contract administrator for external recruitment companies.
  • Build relationships with medical schools, residency-training programs, and national, state, and local medical societies and associations.
  • Coordinate provider recruitment activities, including attendance at national and local medical conferences, resident events, and job fairs, and networking with colleagues.
  • Research and summarize information about opportunities and develop a practice and community profile to communicate with candidates.
  • Maintain a database of candidate information, including curriculum vitae, contact details, internal referrals, and follow-up information.
  • Serve as a liaison with candidates, Service Line Managers, Hospital Administrators, and Lead Physicians.
  • Maintain working knowledge and comply with SLUHN Human Resources policies and State and Federal Employment and Affirmative Action Laws.
  • Prepare and present monthly recruitment reports and track recruitment costs for each opportunity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled and ensure proper release of information.
  • Follow network and departmental policies related to issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and complete required reporting.
  • Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance with internal and external customers.
  • Support performance improvement efforts related to Customer/Service Improvement and Operational System/Process as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility through efficient use of resources in daily procedures and practices.
  • Comply with network and departmental attendance and dress code requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, or healthcare management.
  • Two to five years of physician recruiting experience, or other relevant sales or marketing related experience.
  • Ability to comply with SLUHN Human Resources policies and State and Federal Employment and Affirmative Action Laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the Network/Entity and ensure proper release of information.
  • Complete the application using full legal name and current home address, and include employment history for the past seven (7) years, including present employer.

Education and Training

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, or healthcare management.
  • Two to five years in physician recruiting or other relevant sales or marketing related experience.
