Recruiter

Professional Transit offers a stable, benefits-forward position for a Recruiter on-site in Jamaica, NY (Queens). This full-time role supports staffing for fleet and office teams while partnering with communities and moving candidates smoothly from outreach through onboarding. Compensation is $60,000 to $70,000 per year, with 100% employer-paid pension (no cost to you) plus 401(k) matching, along with comprehensive medical and dental and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Own the high-volume full-cycle recruitment process to help ensure fleet and office teams are staffed with qualified professionals.
• Handle recruitment activities end-to-end, including community outreach, candidate engagement, and on-boarding.
• Build and execute creative recruiting plans using Indeed, social media, and specialized job boards.
• Screen and interview candidates, and conduct background and reference checks to support quality hiring decisions.
• Represent the company at job fairs, career events, and through local community resources.
• Maintain accurate candidate documentation in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and support the onboarding and orientation process.
• Re-engage previously qualified candidates and manage reactivation processes for inactive staff.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent, proven experience in high-volume recruitment or in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, along with experience managing hiring platforms/ATS.
• Strong understanding of employment laws, lead generation, and networking techniques.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines in a high-energy environment.
• Must work on-site in person in Queens, NY.

Schedule and Work Style

• Monday to Friday (full-time).
• Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
