Senior Recruiter, Field Recruiting
Job Description
The Senior Recruiter for Field Recruiting will lead full-cycle talent acquisition efforts for CarMax field teams, combining strategic recruiting planning with proactive sourcing. This position serves as a key contact for both candidates and hiring managers across multiple markets, with an emphasis on structured selection and a strong candidate experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic recruiting plans that include proactive sourcing to identify talent not actively seeking new roles through networking sites, job boards, specialty search software, and direct outreach.
- Own the hiring strategy end to end, from requisition posting through interview scheduling and completion of the process, including delivering offer recommendations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for candidates and hiring managers, supporting clear communication and a positive experience throughout the recruiting lifecycle, from managers through executive-level business partners.
- Partner with manager and executive-level hiring leaders to support hiring strategy for open needs, while building functional expertise in the core business areas supported.
- Coach hiring managers on structured interview and selection practices to promote consistency and fairness.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring requirements, including effective engagement of passive candidates.
- Participate in recruiting events such as job fairs, college outreach, and community engagement initiatives when needed to strengthen CarMax’s employer brand.
- Collaborate with leadership to address recruiting challenges and recommend actionable solutions that improve recruiting efficiency and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience within the last 5 years, including a track record of meeting hiring goals.
- Experience recruiting across a variety of roles and demonstrated ability to support senior leadership business partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills across messaging, phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
- Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems and experience managing candidates through structured workflows.
- Expertise in sourcing and engaging passive candidates using multiple channels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and clarity in all interactions.
- Some Senior Recruiter roles may require flexibility to work across different time zones.

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is USD 81,600 - 122,400.

- Paid sick time (up to 48 hours per year accrued on a per pay period basis)
- Vacation time (between 80 hours and 200 hours per year depending on years of continuous service with the Company after a 90 day waiting period)
