Job Description
HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) seeks a Veteran Recruiter Talent Acquisition Rep 4 to drive outreach to military veterans and help them transition into roles at the shipyard. This onsite position in Newport News, VA acts as the main link to military installations and veteran organizations, guiding candidates through the pre-employment process and representing NNS at veteran events and career fairs.
Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment for prospective employees with a focus on former and transitioning service members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison with multiple military installations and veteran support organizations.
- Collaborate with veteran agencies and represent Newport News Shipbuilding at veteran events and career fairs.
- Develop connections with candidates and stakeholders to meet hiring goals and drive outcomes.
- Conduct interviews to recruit prospective employees and refer applicants to specific job openings.
- Evaluate candidate qualifications including job experience, education and training, skills, knowledge and abilities, and other data relevant to classification, selection, and referral.
- Prepare ratings on applicants, advise on starting salaries, and provide applicants with information about the company.
- May administer tests and interpret results, check references, arrange transportation for selected applicants, extend formal job offers, and coordinate with outside agencies and vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience
- Master's Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
