Job Description

McLean Affiliates in Simsbury, CT is pursuing a hands-on Vice President of Human Resources to lead and strengthen all HR functions within a growing organization. The role centers on shaping culture, advancing talent development, managing employee relations and compliance, and overseeing HR operations, including guiding the rollout of a new HRIS to support scalable growth.

Position details

  • Location: Simsbury, CT (onsite)
  • Minimum experience: 10 years
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Responsibilities

  • Define core strategies and operating plans as a senior management member, maintaining a global view of internal and external issues to support long-term viability.
  • Provide strong leadership to the HR function to ensure the achievement of McLean’s core strategies and operating results.
  • Lead with integrity and vision, and communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Develop and implement progressive policies and practices for McLean.
  • Create policies and procedures to meet organizational objectives and maximize personnel utilization and stability.
  • Oversee the employment function throughout the organization.
  • Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to achieve goals.
  • Oversee the design, development and administration of compensation programs and strategy.
  • Develop and administer competitive, cost-effective benefit programs to meet employee and organizational needs.
  • Serve as Administrator and fiduciary of The McLean Retirement Plan.
  • Provide direction and leadership for employee relations across the organization.
  • Create strategic training and organizational development plans for the workforce, including guidance for supervisory and management development.
  • Oversee the development and management of a McLean educational institute.
  • Evaluate company culture and recommend changes to support McLean’s goals.
  • Oversee payroll operations.
  • Assess procedures and technology solutions to improve HR utilization, efficiency, and data management.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets for human resources functions.
  • Serve as Corporate Compliance Officer for McLean.
  • Serve as HIPAA Privacy Officer.
  • Attend monthly Trustee meetings and present as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Strong management skills focusing on principles and people.
  • Well-developed administrative capabilities.
  • Good reasoning, sound judgment, and clear decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Resourceful, well-organized, and credible.
  • Ability to interpret and advise on a range of issues and regulatory concerns.
  • Broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, training and development, and labor law.
  • Familiarity with corporate compliance and healthcare regulatory considerations.
  • Understanding of current practices and trends in leadership and organizational development.
  • Knowledge of federal and state personnel laws.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing confidential personnel matters.
