Job Description
Two-year, full-time George B. Cox Fellow – Human Resources Coordinator at Boston Public Schools, onsite in Boston, MA; salary USD 76,740 per year; requires a Bachelor's Degree.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison for the district's employment verification vendor and processing of verification requests.
- Coordinate unemployment claim administration for the district, ensuring timely, accurate responses.
- Coordinate communication and distribution of MBTA passes with City Hall to ensure efficient access for eligible staff.
- Administer the Office of Human Resources inbox, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of inquiries.
- Provide clear and proactive communications to schools, central offices, and external partners to meet staffing needs and keep employee records accurate.
- Deliver responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders by furnishing accurate information or routing inquiries to the appropriate HR resources.
- Gather and verify candidate information, answering questions about HR processes, policies, and procedures.
- Produce management reports and metrics on personnel data.
- Draft correspondence, reports, memos, meeting agendas, and other documents using standard software tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations).
- Support the development and delivery of professional development or training for staff on HR practices and talent management.
- Respond to inquiries about BPS HR policies and procedures.
- Oversee the full criminal background screening process for staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and district requirements.
- Maintain background check dashboards for each school and partner program, ensuring accuracy.
- Serve as the point of contact for district-wide Employment Agreement (EAE) matters.
- Coordinate department-wide mailings, notices, and related communications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Office of Human Resources mission and priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Early career professional status welcomed.
- Proven program or project management experience with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience developing spreadsheets and reports; proficient with Excel and Google Sheets for data management.
- Interest in analyzing quantitative data and diverse information, with the ability to make data-driven recommendations using Excel or Access.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Google Suite; capable of developing and maintaining websites.
- Adaptable to change, with the ability to propose and implement thoughtful solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across diverse populations.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Team-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects while prioritizing daily activities.
