Job Description

Lead the human resources team to align practices with applicable laws while ensuring qualified candidates are recruited, onboarded, and developed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and leadership of the HR function.
  • Evaluate staffing requests from department directors for new hires or replacements, process approvals, and coordinate interviews and scheduling.
  • Screen applications and references for candidates and arrange interviews with department directors as needed.
  • Maintain an efficient and compliant personnel records system that supports facility operations and current employment practices.
  • Ensure that hiring and discharge procedures follow established policies and processes.
  • Perform background checks in line with the facility's approved procedures.
  • Onboard new staff by explaining policies, payroll, safety, and grievance procedures as outlined in operational guidelines.
  • Provide counseling or disciplinary actions as required.
  • Conduct exit interviews and document outcomes in personnel records.
  • Maintain a constructive employee relations program that serves the facility and the surrounding community.
  • Coordinate year-round all staff in-service training, including OSHA, HIPAA, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing the department budget related to personnel administration.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality for all employee information.
  • Ensure new hires receive a copy of residents' rights.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.
  • Guard residents' rights to fair treatment, self-determination, privacy, and civil rights, including wage-related rights, at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in HR administration.
  • Strong knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing personnel administration in nursing care facilities.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet, and to carry or move such weight for up to 50 feet.
