Job Description

Brooks Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced Human Resource Generalist and Business Partner to serve as the primary HR contact for designated client groups in a hybrid role based in Jacksonville. This position aligns HR practices with business objectives, covering employee relations, performance management, coaching, policy review, and compliance, while operating without direct supervisory responsibilities but acting as a coach, mentor, and informal leader.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with frontline leaders and staff to strengthen workplace relationships, raise morale, and boost productivity, retention, and engagement.
  • Delivers consistent guidance on HR policies and their interpretation.
  • Partners with client groups to address complex employee relations issues and conducts thorough, objective investigations as needed.
  • Supports developing, implementing, and annually reviewing HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics with HR and line leaders to craft effective solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Offers day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to frontline leaders in fulfilling people related responsibilities.
  • Provides line management with performance management guidance, including coaching, counseling, career development, and performance improvement plans.
  • Supports recruiting efforts and onboarding of new hires as needed.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the department's efficiency and services.
  • Assists with HR operations tasks including unemployment claims, subpoena requests, employment verification, I-9 compliance, licensure requirements, HRIS requests, and document management.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Keeps up to date on HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
  • Participates in HR projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field is preferred, with five or more years of HR experience required; relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Ability to comprehend and maintain business literacy regarding the client group’s strategies, goals, and challenges.
  • Creative thinker who is highly driven and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment regulations and related laws and the ability to apply them across varied situations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across organizational levels.
  • Working knowledge across multiple HR domains including compensation, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and recruitment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with a customer- and quality-focused approach.
  • Demonstrates integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of HRIS.
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI PHR credentials are a plus.

Location

Corporate office 3599 University Blvd South, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Travel to other locations throughout Brooks territory may be required.

Hybrid, Monday - Friday
