The Human Resource Generalist role is a hybrid position based in Brown Deer, WI. This role supports onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, HRIS data management, and staffing for both exempt and non-exempt employees.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full cycle recruiting for exempt and non-exempt roles, including advertising, sourcing, interviewing, offers, and follow-up with candidates
  • Track applicants and provide ongoing staffing support for exempt managerial positions
  • Coordinate and enhance the onboarding experience with new staff and department managers; conduct new hire orientation with policy review and collection of required information
  • Assist with resolving employee relations inquiries and provide guidance to managers and staff
  • Support compliance programs, filings, and reports such as EEO, ACA, OSHA, DOT, and FMLA
  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and generate customized and standard reports to support HR metrics and manager requests
  • Recommend new features and improvements to HR processes and systems
  • Respond to questions about benefits, leave, payroll, and policy interpretation; communicate directly with staff
  • Research, develop, recommend, and interpret HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws; stay current on HR legislation and best practices
  • Contribute to HR projects such as HRIS implementation, policy updates, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate across all levels
  • Solid problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Proficiency with HRIS and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities; capable of handling multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field and/or professional certification
  • Professional or Strategic HR certification is preferred
  • 2-3 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • At least 2 years of experience in complex employee relations is preferred
  • Experience with a growing company and administering compliance-related reporting
  • Training and development experience is a plus
  • Strong customer service experience, both over the phone and in person
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff and management
  • Excellent computer skills across business applications, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and HRIS systems
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and coordinate, organize, and manage projects
