Job Description

The Human Resources Manager is an onsite leadership role based in Salt Lake City, Utah, guiding HR strategy, operations, and compliance for This is the Place Foundation. The successful candidate will partner with the COO and department heads to recruit, develop, and retain talent while upholding legal and policy standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for all positions
  • Oversee the full cycle of talent acquisition, including job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding
  • Collaborate with department leaders to determine staffing needs and define position requirements
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with the Foundation's mission
  • Provide trusted guidance to employees and managers on HR-related matters
  • Investigate and address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Develop, refresh, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
  • Maintain precise and confidential employee records in line with legal requirements
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims, filings, and compliance, including coordination with insurance carriers and state reporting requirements
  • Oversee compensation structures, salary reviews, and benefits administration
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors and coordinate open enrollment periods
  • Analyze compensation data to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity
  • Design and administer performance management processes and goal-setting frameworks
  • Identify training and professional development needs and implement outcomes-driven solutions that enhance performance and support growth
  • Lead succession planning and leadership development initiatives
  • Develop and administer employee recognition programs to celebrate achievements and milestones
  • Collaborate with managers to identify and reward high performance and positive behaviors
  • Coordinate service anniversary and tenure recognition initiatives
  • Monitor recognition program participation and effectiveness, adjusting based on employee feedback

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Proven experience managing recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite

The Human Resources Manager serves as a key member of the Foundation's leadership team, overseeing all aspects of human resources strategy, operations, and compliance. This role partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer and department heads to build a strong organizational culture, attract and retain top talent, and ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices.
