Job Description

Shimadzu Medical Systems is seeking an HR Administrator/Recruiter to support day-to-day people operations and full-cycle hiring for open roles. This onsite position in Long Beach, CA pairs HR administration with recruiting ownership, giving you a clear path to contribute to both employee experience and talent acquisition. The role offers an hourly salary range of $20 to $28, with flexible scheduling and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with matching, medical and vision coverage, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will provide HR assistance and recruiting support across the employee lifecycle. You will help with benefits questions and support open enrollment (once per year), maintain accurate records in the ADP Portal, and run reports in ADP for management. You will also serve as backup for timecards and payroll processing, including resolving payroll discrepancies, maintaining payroll operations per company policies, and handling payroll records updates in ADP such as job title changes, exemptions, and deductions.

  • Assist with HR processes and procedures, including answering benefits questions
  • Support open enrollment (once per year)
  • Update changes in the ADP Portal to ensure accuracy
  • Run ADP reports for management (earnings summaries, tax deductions, hire date, salary information)
  • Support payroll operations: collect timecards, calculate semi-monthly payroll hours, overtime, on-call, or commissions
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies across all employees
  • Serve as backup for timecards and payroll processing
  • Perform background check and drug test screening for new hires
  • Assist with new hire documentation, offer letters, onboarding, and orientation
  • Process and issue W-2 forms at the beginning of each year
  • Maintain and file confidential HR and payroll-related documents
  • Assist with annual performance evaluation distribution and collection

You will also own full-cycle recruiting for open requisitions. This includes sourcing and attracting candidates, screening and interviewing applicants, and coordinating next steps with hiring managers. You will maintain recruiting metrics such as time-to-hire, cost per-hire, and candidate quality, while supporting hiring that remains aligned with employment laws and company policies.

  • Sourcem and attract candidates to meet all open requisitions
  • Use job boards, social media, networking events, and employee referrals to build talent pipelines
  • Screen and interview candidates to assess skills, experience, and cultural fit (including phone or video interviews)
  • Partner with hiring managers on job requirements and job description development
  • Manage the hiring process, including extending offers, negotiating salary and benefits, and guiding onboarding
  • Track recruiting metrics to optimize the recruitment process
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies throughout hiring

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • ADP knowledge is a major plus
  • Strong detail orientation and organization, with ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Dependability and proactive problem-solving
  • Effective communication at all levels by phone, face to face, and email
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with candidates and hiring managers
