Human Resources Administrator
Job Description
Arts & Science is hiring a Human Resources Administrator to support faculty affairs and a broad set of HR operations, communications, and employee support workflows.
Responsibilities
- Support faculty affairs workflows and related HR transactions
- Prepare, process, and review appointment-related forms and transactions for faculty, research, and visiting academic populations
- Assist with sabbaticals, leaves, and professional development funds
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment for temporary employees
- Coordinate onboarding and manage systems access for new hires
- Provide time-off tracking solutions for hourly paid employees
- Manage HR activities related to employee overtime, dual appointments, and adjusted work schedule requests
- Maintain and manage the HR communications calendar
- Develop and send policy updates and reminders
- Support departmental special projects as assigned
- Complete HR data entry, reporting, and general office reception tasks, including scheduling appointments
- Serve as the main point of contact for HR general inquiries for administrative and academic populations
- Respond to inquiries using comprehensive knowledge of university and school/division policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of human resources experience, including interpreting and communicating policies and procedures and managing HR-related employment information
- Relevant professional-level experience as an HR generalist in an academic environment
- Experience in a union environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels
- Ability to facilitate decision-making
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, spreadsheets, and database software
- Working knowledge of HRIS/HRMS systems, preferably Workday

Compensation & Location
- Location: New York, NY (onsite)
- Salary: USD 70,000 - 77,000 per year
- Pay transparency (NYC): annual base salary range of USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00
- Note: base pay only; excludes additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items
