Human Resources Associate
Job Description
This full-time, in-office Human Resources Associate role supports day-to-day people operations for multiple locations in Portland, Oregon. The position focuses on recruiting coordination, new hire onboarding and documentation, benefits administration (including 401(k)), and employee separation support, along with timely responses to employee questions while maintaining confidentiality.
Role Location and Schedule
Portland, OR (onsite, non-remote). The role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
Compensation
USD 21 to 24 per hour. The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Post job advertisements and source qualified candidates, including conducting phone interviews across a range of positions and locations using recruiting tools.
- Support the hiring process, which may include coordinating in-house drug tests, processing background checks, and verifying motor vehicle records.
- Handle new hire paperwork and ensure I-9, W-4, and E-Verify documentation is compliant.
- Respond to employee inquiries timely and accurately, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Facilitate weekly new hire orientations.
- Provide back-up and cross-functional support to other team members as needed.
- Administer 401(k), Benefits Distribution, and support employee separations.
- Support the HR Director and HR Manager with other assigned duties and perform related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of recent office work experience with recruiting or in human resources.
- Effective communication skills; bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong judgment.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and a professional, confidential approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and multitask effectively.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.
- Initiative and a team player mindset.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
