Job Description

Milbank LLP is seeking a qualified Human Resources Coordinator to support daily HR operations with emphasis on onboarding and offboarding, HR administration, compliance, and data management. The role ensures processes remain consistent, compliant, and aligned with safeguarding standards. This onsite position is based in New York, NY, with a salary range of USD 60,000 to 80,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for HR inquiries, delivering timely guidance on policies, procedures, and workplace practices.
  • Coordinate onboarding workflows and conduct new hire orientations for Business Services in New York, including I-9 compliance.
  • Oversee the employee separation process upon resignation, termination, or retirement.
  • Manage exit interviews, complete exit checklists, document employee feedback, and capture insights for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation for internal, external, and client audits; uphold data governance standards and support audit readiness through accurate recordkeeping.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS, ensuring timely updates for hires, changes, transfers, and terminations.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining job profiles, positions, and organizational structures within the HRIS.
  • Support HR projects related to process improvements, policy updates, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to employee relations processes by assisting with documentation.
  • Process invoices and expenses in the Emburse System.
  • Maintain the Firm’s HR intranet page on MilbankNow.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed, including events.
  • Act as backup support across HR functions to build cross-functional capability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a coordinator or generalist support role.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, compliance, and employment laws.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Workday HRIS.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
