Job Description

Baker Construction Enterprises Inc is seeking an on-site Human Resources Coordinator in Monroe, Ohio. This role supports HR initiatives such as employment compliance and clerical tasks, and coordinates new-hire orientations. You will participate in department staff meetings and provide training to teammates on HR functions. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and accurate record-keeping, with opportunities to influence onboarding and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Compliance Specialist to maintain, assess, and resolve compliance issues.
  • Supports the development of procedures and manuals.
  • Supports the preparation of documentation for EEO government audits.
  • Assists colleagues with basic employment questions and escalates issues as needed.
  • Manages the labor law poster program.
  • Supports E-Verify and I-9 compliance for the organization; responds to technical or compliance questions and ensures follow-up.
  • Ensures adherence to record-keeping requirements across all areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts New-Hire Orientation for the Northern Region and Shared Services, ensuring accurate completion of new-hire paperwork.
  • Create and coordinate shipments of new-hire packets.
  • Oversees all pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable-suspicion, and job-site drug testing processes.
  • Notifies affected coworkers and Regional HR Managers of drug test results and ensures compliance with the Drug Policy.
  • Acts as an alternate contact for clinics and vendors such as E Screen and Mid-West Toxicology.
  • Supports regional award events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with five years of HR experience and/or training, preferably with exposure to employment law.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively in written and oral form to all levels of staff.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Detail oriented and analytical.
  • Ability to research and analyze various data types.
  • Ability to exercise judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize workload.
