Job Description
The Human Resources Director at Decatur Foundry, Inc. leads strategic people initiatives, policy compliance, and long-range talent management from Decatur, Illinois. This executive role serves as the key link between management and staff, aligning business objectives with HR programs and practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and interviewing to selection, upholding best practices to attract both external and internal talent while safeguarding the employer brand in the talent marketplace.
- Develop a robust pipeline for critical roles, including leadership and skilled trades, to support Decatur Foundry's future needs.
- Direct strategic workforce planning and development based on current and anticipated business demands.
- Champion employee engagement and experience efforts, coordinating events and partnering with executive leadership to align talent initiatives with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Define and monitor HR and talent management metrics to assess performance and market competitiveness.
- Research, design, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and incentive programs to retain top talent.
- Provide guidance to management on HR, compensation, and benefits matters, and address related questions and issues.
- Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and related laws and regulations.
- Mitigate risk by maintaining current knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Draft and manage the staffing budget and the Human Resources department budget.
- Engage in professional development and networking through conferences and events.
- Foster community relationships with colleges and government or business entities to promote Decatur Foundry as a premier employer and support philanthropic initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of EEO laws preferred
- Knowledge of HRIS databases and processes required
- Ability to work independently

- Strong attention to detail and quick learning ability
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- Master’s degree or law degree highly preferred
- At least ten years of human resource management experience required
- Strategic, talent management, or business development experience highly preferred
- SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred
