Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Walex Products Company is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to operate onsite in Leland, NC, reporting to the CFO.
Responsibilities
- Records management and file upkeep, ensuring I-9s and related forms are completed and compliant; assist with OSHA logs and reports as needed; develop procedures; may participate in evaluating or upgrading HRIS systems for data management and growth.
- Recruitment support by drafting job ads from descriptions, posting roles, screening applicants, coordinating interviews and the full hiring process, performing reference checks, and preparing offer letters; manage temporary labor via staffing agencies.
- Onboarding coordination for new hires, handling paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify, NC Hire forms; outline policies via the handbook and benefits information; collaborate with payroll to maintain accurate system data; may assist with onboarding during acquisitions or mergers.
- Benefits administration including completing paperwork after eligibility waiting period, coordinating with brokers to ensure accuracy, supporting benefit offerings and costs before open enrollment, coordinating open enrollment meetings and annual benefit forms; ensure accurate data input and conduct annual records audits.
- Employee relations support by assisting managers with performance and compliance matters; maintain and update the Employee Handbook; serve as first point of contact for general HR questions; document and witness disciplinary or termination discussions as required.
- FMLA, unemployment, and workers’ compensation administration as the primary contact for documentation, follow-up, record-keeping, and coordination with carriers or attorneys as needed.
- Compliance oversight to ensure adherence to labor laws and to update materials and forms as required.
- Training support, helping develop programs for managers and supervisors; may conduct basic training for all employees as needed.
- Payroll support as a back-up to the payroll team when required.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels, with discretion, keen attention to detail, organized workflow, and effective time management; ability to adapt to changing priorities and culture.
- Experience with HRIS systems, with NetSuite preferred.
- Experience as the sole HR practitioner in a small but growing company.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Four to six years of experience as an HR generalist or as the sole HR staff member.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- SHRM membership and certification preferred.
