Job Description

Coos County is seeking a Human Resources Generalist II to deliver advanced human resources functions while sharing day-to-day HR administrative responsibilities within a two-person HR team. This onsite role is based in Coquille, Oregon and includes responsibilities spanning employee relations, recruitment, leave administration, compliance, and HR recordkeeping.

Role Overview

In this position, you will manage professional HR tasks at an advanced level and also help maintain the operational flow of HR office work. The work covers core HR functions, document processing, and routine administrative support to ensure HR services are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced HR functions while sharing responsibility for day-to-day HR administrative work necessary to keep the office operating effectively
  • Support employee relations
  • Handle recruitment
  • Manage leave administration
  • Ensure compliance across assigned HR activities
  • Complete other professional HR responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain HR records and support document processing
  • Perform data entry and filing
  • Provide routine office support

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional human resources experience, preferably including employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, leave administration, and employment law compliance
  • Public sector HR experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the required knowledge and skills
  • Possession of a current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), PHR, or equivalent nationally recognized human resources certification is required
  • Thorough working knowledge of HR principles and practices, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, benefits administration, leave administration, classification and compensation, workers’ compensation, performance management, and employment law compliance
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Paid Leave Oregon, Oregon employment laws, workers’ compensation regulations, and collective bargaining agreements

Compensation

Salary: USD 71,208 - 86,676 per year.
