Human Resources Generalist, Leave Administration & Compliance
Job Description
Human Resources Generalist, Leave Administration & Compliance is the primary people partner for an assigned manufacturing site, supporting employee relations, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and employment compliance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and leaders at the assigned site.
- Partner with managers and supervisors to address employee relations concerns, provide coaching, and assist with conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and recommend next steps aligned with company policies and practices.
- Support performance management activities, including coaching and corrective action, plus development discussions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with employees and leadership to support engagement, retention, and positive culture.
- Advise on interpretation and consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, state leave programs, military leave, personal leave, and other company-sponsored leaves.
- Manage the leave cycle from request through return-to-work, ensuring timely updates and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, medical providers, and third-party administrators on eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work planning.
- Maintain accurate, confidential leave records and supporting documentation.
- Educate employees and leaders on leave policies, processes, and available resources.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws related to leave administration.
- Coordinate all workers’ compensation claims for the assigned site, including reporting, documentation, and claim management.
- Partner with employees, supervisors, safety teams, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers to support claim outcomes.
- Manage return-to-work and transitional duty programs to support safe, timely return.
- Monitor claim activity, identify trends, and recommend improvements to reduce workplace injuries and related costs.
- Ensure workers’ compensation compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding for site employees.
- Provide frontline HR support for policies, programs, benefits, open enrollment, performance reviews, and employment-related questions.
- Support HR communications tied to policy updates, training initiatives, organizational changes, and employee programs.
- Participate in HR and cross-functional projects that support business objectives and employee engagement.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or experience equivalent to.
- Minimum 5 years progressive HR experience, including employee relations, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and compliance.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting employees and leaders in a manufacturing, production, or operational environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, workers’ compensation, and related employment regulations.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing employee relations matters.
- Ability to build relationships and influence leaders at all levels.
- Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, preferably Rippling.

Working Conditions
- Administrative office environment / manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and other adverse conditions for periods of time depending on the role.
- Ability to be onsite 5 days a week and support multiple shifts.
- Local travel to all organization sites and locations.
- Occasional travel as needed.
Location and Pay
- Location: Northfield, VT (onsite)
- Salary range: USD 80,000 - 90,000 per year (Northfield)
