Human Resources Manager
Job Description
Mt. Hood SkiBowl seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function in support of the organization’s goals. This role oversees staffing, recruiting, training and development, performance management, wage and hour records, and compensation and benefits programs while ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering a culture aligned with the Core Values.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and direct the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department.
- Administer recruiting, staffing, training, retention, evaluation and motivation programs to build an effective and professional workforce.
- Contribute to recruiting and hiring practices for management and administrative level candidates.
- Establish best practices, perform under pressure, and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Recommend, develop, implement and communicate HR policies and objectives, including policy changes and initiatives to align with current and evolving company plans.
- Formulate and oversee HR policies to foster positive employer-employee relations and high morale, motivation and engagement.
- Collaborate on the development of HR goals, objectives and systems, with departmental measurements that support strategic aims.
- Direct and monitor the annual performance appraisal program to ensure timely reviews in line with policy.
- Provide guidance to management and supervisory staff on employment practices; counsel employees and managers on HR concerns and remain current with applicable regulations.
- Partner with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs and laws.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental and labor regulations and maintain minimal exposure to legal risk.
- Create training programs addressing key initiatives and compliance requirements for managers and employees, including onboarding training.
- Budget, develop and implement positive employee events.
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Investigate and review employee complaints and concerns.
- Manage the development and maintenance of the company handbook and policies.
- Maintain strict standards for securing HR and payroll information, records and files.
- Accept other responsibilities as assigned by the VP/GM, Controller and the Executive Team, ensuring HR practices support company strategy.
- Administer Skibowl's employee volunteer program.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources roles, preferably within the hospitality industry.
