This onsite role offers a salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission and values of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey to serve those in need
  • Recruit, screen, and interview applicants for open positions
  • Conduct pre-employment reference checks
  • Perform criminal background investigations
  • Verify professional licensure as required
  • Coordinate pre-employment drug testing
  • Prepare job requisitions and process posting requests
  • Facilitate and coordinate orientation and onboarding paperwork for new hires
  • Communicate with department heads on new hire status
  • Manage workers' compensation processes
  • Collaborate with the CAO HR department on leave of absence administration
  • Process new hire and personnel actions for payroll data changes
  • Process promotions and termination paperwork
  • Handle organizational changes and related processes
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external reports for government agencies and professional associations
  • Coordinate final payroll payments and exit questionnaires with departing employees
  • Assist in benefits open enrollment, performance management, and compensation planning
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation in partnership with management per regulatory requirements
  • Respond to routine HR questions about benefits, payroll, vacation, and leave of absence
  • Stay current on new regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Attend and participate in HR and leadership training as required
  • Oversee the Employee Recognition committee and ensure timely communication of events and programs
  • Foster positive employee relations, maintain confidentiality, and interact with staff with fairness and credibility
  • Ensure consistent application of agency policies and compliance with applicable laws
  • Advise department heads on employee relations issues
  • Complete annual compliance and HIPAA training and uphold the Code of Ethics and Business Integrity
  • Adhere to the Compliance Program and report concerns in a timely manner
  • Follow all local, state, and federal regulations applicable to the role
  • Uphold HIPAA privacy and security requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science
  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Proficiency with Outlook
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems
