Job Description

Fierce Firearms operates in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, where precision and people operations go hand in hand. We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to own the day-to-day HR function onsite in Hurricane, UT, guiding payroll, benefits, recruiting, compliance, and employee relations for a 100–120 non-union workforce. The role is full-cycle and operationally focused, balancing employee experience with risk management while building scalable HR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll: manage end-to-end payroll in Gusto with exact accuracy, covering time capture, approvals, multiple pay rates and overtime, deductions, garnishments, PTO accruals, tax filings, and GL reconciliation.
  • Benefits: administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave programs; handle open enrollment, life event changes, COBRA, and carrier coordination via Gusto.
  • Talent: own full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles, including sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, background checks, and onboarding to sustain production staffing levels.
  • Employee Relations: serve as the primary point of contact for questions, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance issues; coach supervisors on fair and direct leadership.
  • Compliance: maintain adherence to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, workers’ comp, and Utah labor law; manage I-9 / E-Verify, ITAR screening support, and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Operations: oversee onboarding and offboarding, job descriptions, the employee handbook, policy updates, and HRIS data integrity; provide clear metrics on headcount, turnover, attendance, and time-to-fill.
  • Partnership: collaborate with the COO/CFO and floor supervisors to translate workforce needs into staffing, training, and retention actions that protect throughput and quality.

Requirements

  • Foundation: 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with direct, hands-on payroll administration.
  • Gusto strongly preferred.
  • Breadth: demonstrated depth across benefits administration, full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, and HR compliance.
  • Able to run all four areas without a dedicated HR team.
  • Compliance: practical command of federal and Utah employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA) and comfort working in a regulated environment.
  • Systems: proficiency with HRIS / payroll platforms, time and attendance systems, and MS 365 for clean reporting.
  • Environment: manufacturing or hourly-workforce experience strongly preferred; ITAR / ATF-regulated exposure a plus.
  • Education: bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field; PHR or SHRM-CP certification welcomed.
  • Experience: 5 years in human resources (Required).

  • Calm, credible employee-relations judgment in a fast, hands-on shop floor
  • Working knowledge of multi-state / Utah employment law and regulated-industry compliance
  • Strong systems and process discipline for repeatable, documented HR operations
  • Bias for action, ownership, and discretion as a trusted standalone HR function

Application Questions

  • Have you personally processed full-cycle payroll from start to finish — as the sole or primary person responsible, not assisting someone else — for an organization of 100+ employees?
  • This is a standalone HR role at a regulated, ATF-controlled manufacturer, with no HR team above or below you. Have you been the sole HR person at a site, personally handling confidential matters — terminations, investigations, employee records — without escalation to a larger HR department?
