Job Description
Fierce Firearms is seeking an on-site Human Resources Manager to lead people operations at a regulated manufacturing site in Cedar City, Utah. This full-time role offers a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 per year, a comprehensive benefits package, and the opportunity to own payroll, benefits, recruiting, compliance, and employee relations for a 100–120 non-union workforce. The role emphasizes accuracy, risk mitigation, and scalable HR systems in a fast-paced floor environment.
Benefits
- 401(k) matching
- Employee discount
- Health insurance
- Health savings account
Responsibilities
- Payroll: Manage end-to-end payroll through Gusto with zero-error accuracy, including time capture, approvals, multi-rate and overtime calculations, deductions, garnishments, PTO accruals, tax filings, and reconciliation to the GL.
- Benefits: Administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave programs; oversee open enrollment, qualifying life events, COBRA, and carrier coordination through Gusto.
- Talent: Own full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles — sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, background checks, and onboarding to maintain floor staffing against production demand.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for questions, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance issues; coach supervisors on direct, fair, and consistent leadership.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, workers’ compensation; manage I-9 / E-Verify, ITAR personnel screening support, and maintain audit-ready records.
- Operations: Administer onboarding and offboarding, job descriptions, the employee handbook, policy updates, and HRIS data integrity; deliver clear metrics on headcount, turnover, attendance, and time-to-fill.
- Partnership: Collaborate with the COO/CFO and floor supervisors to translate workforce needs into staffing, training, and retention actions that protect throughput and quality.
Requirements
- Foundation: 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with direct ownership of payroll administration; Gusto strongly preferred.
- Breadth: Demonstrated depth across benefits administration, full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, and HR compliance; able to run all four without a supporting HR team.
- Compliance: Practical command of federal and Utah employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA) and comfort operating in a regulated, security-sensitive environment; ITAR/ATF exposure a plus.
- Systems: Proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms, time-and-attendance systems, plus Microsoft 365 for reporting and analytics.
- Environment: Manufacturing or industrial hourly-workforce experience strongly preferred; ITAR / ATF-regulated exposure is a clear plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field; PHR or SHRM-CP certification welcomed.
Technologies used include Gusto, HRIS, time-and-attendance systems, and Microsoft 365.
Application Questions
- Have you personally processed full-cycle payroll from start to finish — as the sole or primary person responsible, not assisting someone else — for an organization of 100+ employees?
- This is a standalone HR role at a regulated, ATF-controlled manufacturer, with no HR team above or below you. Have you been the sole HR person at a site, personally handling confidential matters — terminations, investigations, employee records — without escalation to a larger HR department?
- This role is fully on-site in Gunnison, Utah — it is not remote or hybrid. Are you able to work on-site daily?
