Job Description

This onsite Human Resources Officer role in Joliet, IL combines strategic HR leadership with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and people development. The position carries a salary range of USD 95,000 to 130,000 per year and is full-time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with organizational objectives, supports long-term growth, and drives continuous improvement across HR processes and programs.
  • Shape and promote a positive culture that fosters innovation, accountability, inclusion, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee recruitment and talent acquisition to attract, hire, and retain high-performing employees.
  • Lead payroll operations with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administer and oversee employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, disability, and leave programs. Manage vendor relationships, lead annual open enrollment, and ensure ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and related regulations compliance.
  • Develop onboarding processes to effectively integrate new hires into the organization.
  • Support training and development initiatives to strengthen employee skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain succession planning strategies to identify and prepare future leaders.
  • Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, evaluations, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
  • Develop and manage compensation and total rewards programs to ensure internal equity, market competitiveness, and regulatory alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws applicable to banks and bank holding companies, proactively evaluating and improving HR policies and controls.
  • Handle employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct workforce planning and analytics to support strategic staffing decisions.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Oversee HRIS management, optimization, and reporting capabilities to drive efficiency, data integrity, and operational excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance
  • Experience handling employee relations and investigations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion and professionalism
