Manager, People Operations (Human Resources)
Job Description
Based onsite in College Park, Maryland, the Washington Commanders are seeking a Manager, People Operations to guide recruiting, talent development, training, and early career programs while delivering HR generalist support. The role emphasizes organization, collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams to cultivate a values-aligned, high-performing workforce.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hiring managers to determine staffing requirements and support candidate selection processes.
- Conduct talent mapping to surface high-potential candidates and build strategic pipelines for current and future openings.
- Build and maintain relationships with passive candidates and industry contacts to strengthen proactive sourcing efforts.
- Ensure a consistent, positive candidate experience aligned with the brand and values.
- Support annual and mid-year performance reviews and goal-setting cycles.
- Assist with internal talent and career development initiatives and programs.
- Analyze talent trends and feedback to drive program improvements and recommendations.
- Oversee the structure, recruitment, and daily operations of internship and early career programs.
- Coordinate onboarding, learning opportunities, mentorship pairings, and end-of-program evaluations.
- Develop partnerships with colleges, universities, and external organizations to maintain a strong talent pipeline.
- Coordinate employee and manager training initiatives.
- Partner with internal and external facilitators to ensure content aligns with organizational needs and values.
- Track participation and collect feedback to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Serve as an HR contact for assigned business units, providing support on employee relations, policy interpretation, onboarding, and general inquiries.
- Collaborate with the broader HR team on cross-functional projects and process improvements.
- Ensure alignment with employment laws, internal policies, and team values.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in recruiting, talent development, or generalist HR roles.
- Experience with talent mapping, sourcing, and building talent pipelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and work across multiple departments.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with HRIS, performance, and engagement platforms (e.g., Paycor, Culture Amp) preferred.
