Human Resource Support Specialist - Audit and Payroll
Job Description
Based in Columbus, OH and onsite, the Heinzerling Community is seeking a detail oriented Human Resource Support Specialist to back audit and payroll operations. This role offers a collaborative, fast paced environment and a strong focus on service to employees throughout their journey with the organization. You will help ensure precise employee records, accurate payroll processing, and robust HR compliance while safeguarding confidentiality.

Responsibilities
- Verify timecards for a workforce of up to 500 employees
- Support payroll preparation, processing, and auditing to ensure accuracy and timely completion
- Audit payroll reports and employee records to confirm data accuracy and address discrepancies
- Audit personnel records and HR documents to assure compliance with policies and applicable employment laws
- Assist with internal HR and payroll audits, compliance reviews, and required reporting
- Keep payroll and personnel data current in ADP and other HR platforms
- Maintain confidential personnel files and electronic records
- Handle employee data changes, including new hires, transfers, status updates, and terminations
- Compile, review, and audit new hire paperwork such as I-9s, tax forms, direct deposit details, and other employment documents
- Perform background checks, reference verifications, and exclusion screenings
- Generate and issue employee identification badges
- Answer questions from employees and applicants about standard HR and payroll procedures
- Support surveys, reporting, and activities related to regulatory compliance
- Support employee recognition programs and other HR initiatives
- Contribute to new hire orientation and onboarding activities
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
Requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
- Experience reviewing, auditing, and safeguarding confidential records
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to protect confidential information and exercise sound judgment
