Human Resources Analyst
Job Description
SmithGroup’s Corporate office is hiring a Human Resources Analyst in Detroit, MI (hybrid) to turn HR and compensation data into actionable reporting and Power BI insights.
Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and analyze HR, payroll, compensation, and workforce data from HR systems and internal and external sources
- Build recurring and ad hoc reports using HRIS reporting tools, Excel, Power BI, and other analytics platforms
- Analyze compensation, turnover, workforce planning, demographics, and other key HR metrics to surface trends and opportunities
- Develop, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics tools focused on workforce and compensation insights
- Support compensation programs using market pricing, benchmarking, salary survey participation, salary structure administration, and compensation analysis
- Assist with annual merit review and compensation cycles, including data preparation, auditing, reporting, testing, and issue resolution
- Conduct regular audits of HR and compensation data to support accuracy, consistency, and reliable reporting
- Help maintain and optimize HR systems through testing, upgrades, reporting support, user assistance, and process improvements
- Share analytical findings and recommendations via reports, dashboards, visualizations, and stakeholder-ready summaries
- Create documentation, procedures, and training materials for HR systems, reporting, and compensation processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in human resources, HR analytics, compensation, HR systems, or a related analytical role
- 3-5 years working with HRIS platforms; UKG Pro experience is preferred
- Hands-on experience supporting compensation programs, including salary structures, market benchmarking, salary surveys, and compensation analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, lookup functions, and data cleaning or transformation
- Experience building reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert data into practical recommendations
- Exceptional attention to detail, including experience auditing and validating data
- Ability to manage confidential information and collaborate effectively with HR, payroll, and business stakeholders

Compensation and Location
- Location: Detroit, MI (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 73,000 - 88,000 per year
