Job Description

Kimley-Horn is hiring a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator to support the Reston, Virginia office on an onsite basis. In this role, you will help keep HR programs running smoothly across the region, from onboarding and training coordination to HRIS maintenance and employee-facing support.

This position is focused on practical HR operations, partnering with HR teams to manage core processes, and ensuring employee records and workflows stay accurate through regular audits and timely updates.

Role Overview

  • Onsite role based in Reston, VA (not remote).
  • Supports onboarding, HR processes, training coordination, HRIS updates and audits, and employee-related requests across the region.
  • Salary range: USD 70,000 - 80,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new hire orientations and related integration tasks to support a positive onboarding experience.
  • Provide primary support for the career check-in process across the region.
  • Process non-exempt to exempt class changes in alignment with federal and state laws.
  • Support the internal training team by identifying and assigning participants to training programs.
  • Organize, prepare, and facilitate regional face-to-face Strong Start training throughout the year.
  • Partner with HR Partners to conduct and communicate the termination process, including departure paperwork, exit interviews, and filing of personnel documents.
  • Process employee workflow changes in the HRIS, including new hire information, class changes, supervisor changes, and termination updates.
  • Perform regular HRIS audits to ensure employee information accuracy.
  • Review and track employee licensure processes and associated job updates.
  • Respond promptly to employee questions.
  • May collaborate with HR Partners on employee relations topics including performance management, team building, complaint or conflict resolution, career development, and training facilitation.
  • Respond to marketing requests for external clients and various project pursuits.
  • Support special projects with regional and/or company-wide impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in HR, including relevant internship and/or post-graduate work.
  • Interest in pursuing PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Experience with UKG Pro or other HRIS is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to regional offices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with verbal and written communication; comfortable building relationships across different employee levels and groups.
  • Strong time management skills for a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively across the region and the broader company.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
