Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist
Job Description
Ascent Aerospace is looking for an HR professional to help keep HR operations running smoothly, from talent acquisition and onboarding to HRIS support, benefits administration support, and leave of absence administration. This onsite role in Macomb, MI offers a benefits package designed for day-to-day wellbeing and long-term security.
What you’ll do
In this Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist role, you will support the HR department’s core functions while helping ensure employee-facing processes are efficient, accurate, and supportive.
- Drive talent acquisition by sourcing and screening candidates and conducting proactive outreach to identify qualified talent.
- Support full-cycle recruitment activities, including developing job descriptions, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, coordinating with third-party staffing sources, and processing background checks.
- Facilitate onboarding for new hires to support a smooth transition into the organization.
- Maintain employee records with accuracy and complete documentation.
- Provide HRIS support, including data entry, report generation, data integrity, and system configuration/customization.
- Serve as secondary support for leave of absence administration, including FMLA, federal, state, and other applicable leave programs.
- Support benefits administration as needed, including helping employees with benefits inquiries and enrollment processes.
- Assist with employee relations by resolving workplace concerns, conducting investigations, and facilitating conflict resolution.
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills and qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in human resources, recruiting, or related work.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (strongly preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (Ceridian/Dayforce preferred) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Must meet Export Control Compliance requirements: applicants must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. (see Special Requirements below).

Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ceridian/Dayforce HRIS system experience
- SHRM-CP Certification
Work setup and expectations
- Location: Macomb, MI (onsite)
- Travel: May require local travel between Michigan facilities in Metro Detroit (20%)
- Working conditions: Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation; may access and work in the manufacturing plant; exposure may include moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, vibration, and occasional caustic chemicals; noise level is usually moderate; may need to travel to other site locations during the workday; weekends may be required to meet department and business demands; safe manufacturing processes apply and eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area; safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.
- Physical demands: Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus; ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; ability to see, talk, hear, touch, feel, and reach with hands and arms; frequent walking and standing for short periods; ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
