Job Description

Coastal Community Health Services in Brunswick, GA is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Director to lead all HR operations, shaping strategy, policies, and programs while guiding Associate Directors of HR and partnering with the COO and operations leadership. This onsite leadership role focuses on aligning people initiatives with the organization’s goals and delivering strategic HR outcomes across locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee policies and programs across compensation, benefits, wellness, recruitment, and onboarding, with ongoing evaluation and change management.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, identify improvements, and drive implementation across the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to oversee performance management, employee relations, and training initiatives.
  • Track external trends and applicable legislation to ensure competitive practices, compliance, and risk mitigation, providing guidance on interpretation to staff.
  • Escalate and respond promptly to employment-related legal issues, keeping the CEO (or designated party) informed as needed.
  • Process all ADA requests, manage FMLA/OFLA leaves, and oversee EEO reporting; assist with EEOC matters in coordination with legal counsel.
  • Administer workers’ compensation programs, including time loss management, return-to-work efforts, and communications with carriers and claims staff.
  • Coordinate annual benefits renewals with the benefits broker and lead annual employee benefit meetings; communicate 401(k) updates.
  • Oversee pre-employment screening for new hires and provide screening results to the relevant manager; coordinate new employee orientation and training; supervise new hire paperwork; maintain confidential personnel files.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, recommending program designs and cost considerations to the CEO; lead goal setting for HR areas and guide managers in employment services across locations.
  • Provide technical HRIS guidance, support wage and hour compliance, garnishments, and payroll-related processes; oversee audits of workers’ compensation, COBRA, 401(k), benefits, and personnel records.
  • Manage vendor relationships and HR fiduciary consultants, participate in vendor assessments, renewals, and rate evaluations; ensure alignment with budget and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead data reporting on affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, employee engagement, and turnover; drive management improvements based on insights.
  • Represent HR in external stakeholder engagements, facilitate communications about HR programs and the organization’s employment value proposition, and oversee HR content on internal and external sites.
  • Perform backup support in performance management and employee relations as needed; pursue ongoing professional development in employment practices and trends.
  • Conduct or facilitate presentations to managers and employees and support organizational development initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to department and organizational standards, policies, and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor and Employment Relations, or related field; or equivalent with four additional years of relevant work experience.
  • Four years of progressive HR Generalist experience with prior supervisory or management responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of benefits, compensation, and recruitment.
  • Ability to stay current with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and trends; capable of developing and implementing policies.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and change-management skills; ability to educate and provide clear directions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentations; ability to build relationships with management, employees, and vendors.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information and ability to negotiate favorable outcomes when needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and HRIS; willingness to grow knowledge; valid Georgia driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers is preferred.
