Job Description

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services firm with a broad footprint across real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist in Houston. This hybrid role collaborates with HR business partners to guide leaders on employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and workforce initiatives, all while cultivating a positive workplace culture. The position operates on a hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and supports a spectrum of HR programs and processes, including employee relations, performance management, talent development, recognition initiatives, engagement activities, and process improvements.
  • Handles employee relations matters, conducting investigations, applying disciplinary actions, evaluating accommodations, and processing terminations in line with policies and applicable laws.
  • Promotes engagement through feedback collection, climate assessments, exit and stay interviews, and workforce data analysis, offering recommendations to enhance the employee experience.
  • Leads onboarding for designated business units in collaboration with the HR Coordination team to ensure a positive new-hire experience.
  • Responds to employment-related inquiries from employees and leaders, resolving routine issues and escalating complex or sensitive matters as needed.
  • Maintains incident and accident reporting processes in partnership with employees, safety representatives, and workers' compensation carriers.
  • Supports internal mobility and workforce planning, including managing the internal availability list and related stakeholder communications.
  • Assists with compliance activities, including audits, recordkeeping, and adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • May represent HR at employee meetings and town halls, communicating key updates, programs, and initiatives.
  • Keeps current on HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and developments in employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may have SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline; certifications such as SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive matters.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and build effective partnerships with employees and leaders.
