Job Description

Harvest Health & Rehab is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to manage core people operations with accuracy and consistency. This onsite role in Loogootee, IN supports recruiting, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee records, compliance deadlines, and continuous HR process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and secure employee records, including personnel files, HRIS information, employment documentation, policy acknowledgements, PTO updates, and employment status changes.
  • Ensure confidential HR records are organized, current, and audit-ready.
  • Serve as a responsive HR resource by answering employee questions related to company policies, handbook guidance, benefits, and HR processes.
  • Handle sensitive employee information with strict confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Coordinate recruiting from application through onboarding, including resume review, applicant screening, preliminary phone interviews, and Culture Index assessments.
  • Coordinate candidate interviews with hiring leaders, maintain organized candidate communication and follow-up, and complete reference checks, background screenings, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Prepare offer letters and employment documentation, and support a consistent, engaging onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Prepare orientation schedules, onboarding checklists, new hire materials, technology requests, and employee resources; ensure onboarding requirements are completed on time and accurately.
  • Coordinate employee recognition initiatives, including birthday and anniversary celebrations and new hire welcome experiences.
  • Administer stay interviews and annual employee engagement surveys; compile employee feedback and provide summaries and insights to leadership.
  • Support payroll preparation by reviewing timecards, PTO requests, employment changes, and benefit deductions for accuracy; prepare and audit payroll information prior to submission to Accounting.
  • Administer employee benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment activities; assist employees with benefit questions and coordinate required documentation.
  • Maintain the Human Resources compliance calendar and ensure required employment deadlines are met; keep employment documentation and required records current.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation documentation and related administrative requirements.
  • Prepare corrective action documentation while maintaining confidential employee records.
  • Gather documentation related to employee concerns or investigations, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Support managers with HR processes and documentation, while recognizing that coaching, disciplinary meetings, compensation decisions, and termination decisions remain with organizational leadership.
  • Develop and maintain HR standard operating procedures, checklists, templates, workflows, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency, consistency, compliance, and the employee experience, including automation and workflow optimization.
  • Build scalable HR systems and processes to support organizational growth and reduce administrative burden.
  • Support HR-related projects and initiatives that contribute to employee development, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of prior experience in Human Resources, HR administration, recruiting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental HR practices, employment documentation, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS and/or applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across the organization.
